Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about DTF printing, ordering, gang sheets, and more.
About DTF Printing
How it works, what it prints on, and why it lasts.
What is DTF (Direct to Film) Printing?
DTF (Direct to Film) is a transfer method that prints full-color designs onto a special film, which is then heat-pressed onto fabric. Unlike screen printing, it requires no screens, no minimums, and works on both light and dark materials with vibrant, durable results.
What materials can I print on with DTF?
DTF is compatible with cotton, polyester, blends, and synthetics. It works on t-shirts, hoodies, jerseys, tote bags, hats, and more.
Can I use DTF transfers for full-color designs?
Yes. DTF supports full-color printing including gradients, photographic images, and fine detail. There are no color limitations or extra charges for additional colors.
How durable are DTF transfers?
Our DTF transfers have passed 100+ wash cycles tested by Intertek with no major signs of cracking, peeling, or color fading. When applied correctly, they are built to last.
Can DTF transfers handle small details?
Yes. DTF captures thin lines and small text exceptionally well, making it ideal for detailed artwork, logos, and intricate graphics.
What is the difference between DTF and UV DTF?
Standard DTF transfers are designed for fabric and applied with a heat press. UV DTF transfers are designed for hard surfaces such as tumblers, mugs, glass, wood, and acrylic — and require no heat press at all. See our UV DTF transfers collection for more.

Gang Sheets
What they are, how to build one, and why they save money.
What is a gang sheet?
A gang sheet is a single 22-inch wide transfer film sheet that holds multiple designs packed together. Instead of ordering each design separately, you fill one sheet with every graphic you need. You cut the transfers apart after printing and apply them individually.
Why should I use a gang sheet instead of individual transfers?
Gang sheets are significantly more cost-effective per design. A 22×150 inch sheet costs $70.00 and holds about 30 standard front chest prints. Ordering those same 30 prints individually at $5.50 each would cost $165.00. The more you pack on a sheet, the lower your cost per transfer.
How do I build a gang sheet?
Two options:
- DTF Gang Sheet Builder — Build your layout online by uploading designs and arranging them on a virtual sheet. No design software needed.
- Upload DTF Gang Sheets — If you have a print-ready file, upload it directly at 300 DPI on a 22-inch wide canvas.
How are gang sheets priced?
Priced by length. All sheets are 22 inches wide:
- 22×30" — $15.00
- 22×100" — $48.00
- 22×200" — $90.00
Full pricing is listed on the gang sheet product page.
Do you offer UV DTF gang sheets as well?
Yes. Build and upload UV DTF gang sheets at the UV DTF Gang Sheet Builder or Upload UV DTF Gang Sheets.
UV DTF Transfers
Hard surface transfers — no heat press required.
What are UV DTF transfers?
UV DTF transfers use ultraviolet-cured ink printed onto a clear transfer film. They apply to hard surfaces by hand pressure alone — no heat press required. Peel the backing, press onto the surface, and remove the top film. The result is a glossy, raised, waterproof print.
What surfaces do UV DTF transfers work on?
UV DTF transfers are designed for hard surfaces including stainless steel tumblers, ceramic mugs, glass, wood, acrylic, and metal. They are not designed for fabric. For t-shirts and apparel, use standard DTF transfers.
Do UV DTF transfers need a heat press?
No. UV DTF transfers apply with hand pressure only. Clean the surface, peel the backing, align the transfer, and press firmly. No heat press or special tools required.
Are UV DTF transfers waterproof?
Yes. UV DTF transfers are waterproof and scratch-resistant. They hold up on drinkware with regular hand washing. Hand wash is recommended for best long-term results.
How do I order UV DTF transfers?
Three options:
- UV DTF Transfers by Size — Order specific sizes for tumblers, mugs, and other surfaces.
- UV DTF Gang Sheet Builder — Build your sheet online.
- Upload UV DTF Gang Sheets — Upload a print-ready file directly.
Pressing & Application
Temperature, pressure, time, and care instructions.
How do I apply a DTF transfer?
- Temperature: 280–300°F (155–160°C)
- Pressure: Medium (6 KG)
- Time: 9–13 seconds
Let cool for 10 seconds before peeling the carrier film. For a finished look, press briefly once more after peeling.
What fabrics work best with DTF transfers?
DTF transfers adhere best to 100% cotton and cotton/poly blends with at least 50% cotton. Higher cotton content gives stronger adhesion and a softer feel. DTF also works on polyester and performance fabrics.
How do they hold up in the wash?
Our DTF transfers have passed 100+ wash cycles tested by Intertek with no major signs of cracking, peeling, or color fading. Turn garments inside out and wash in cold water for best long-term results.
